InkHeart

Went to VivoCity to watch InkHeart today. Quite a nice movie. Ha-ha..I wish I also can be like the characters. I want to travel into Hundred Acre Woods. Hehe..then can go hug the real pooh bear! Hmm but I didn't understand one part of the movie. How come the mother was not in the book? How come she can't talk? Did they mention in the movie? Not too sure..maybe I fell asleep at the time but as far as I remembered they didn't really explain. Hee:P Never mind la..I think the girl is so smart. I wish I can write like her too. Can think of the storyline right on the spot.

Had lunch at Food Republic before going for movie. I was wondering how come VivoCity seems so empty on a weekend. I went there yesterday but it was super packed. Do people prefer to go out at night these days? Ha-ha..maybe:D

I did my laundry early in the morning. Woke up at 7am to wash my clothes but the dryers wasn't working. The coin box is full so we can't insert anymore coins into in. So in the end, I have to hang my clothes all around the room to dry them. Luckily this week I don't have that many clothes since weekend and Monday was at home.

And yes..I enjoyed myself :P Thanks for the presents and treat!

Saturday!

Weekend is finally here. I have lots of tutorials and readings to catch up with so I always look forward to weekend to complete them. I just don't seem to have enough time during school days or rather I'm lazy:P

Attended the Intermediate Photography Course this morning and learn lots of new things like Gestalt principle, how to use shapes and lines to make picture more exciting and even black and white pictures!!!

Visited Aunty Rita in the afternoon. Had lots of goodies there and stayed till about 7pm. Watched an adventure story about Treasure Island on Okto. Met Ziyang at Vivo and back to VPC room to download the videos.

Biodiversity Practical

Yay..finally no more dealing with microscope. I thought I'll doing better with microscope having been through 2 months of research attachment in which I have to look at the microscope everyday, but I'm wrong. I'm still bad in using the microscope. Have to practice more. I'll need to use it more in the future. But for now..haha..I can forget about it first.

We had our first Field Trip around Kent Ridge, identifying the plants and animals. I didn't realise that there are so many different species around us. To me, all of them looks the same, providing shade and oxygen:P and of course food for other animals.

This is resam (Dicranopteris linearis) or I just call it ferns?
Fishtail palm (Caryota mitis) Took me quite long to spot this.
Figs (Ficus sp.) There's suppose to be wasp staying in the fruit but we were no luck in seeing any

It was raining halfway through the walk but luckily Eelin brough umbrella. Ha-ha..I brought umbrella too but I left it in the lab, arr how silly! Luckily the rain stop not long after and we continue our 'hike'.

Had a short CA after that. Our TA told us we can find all the answers in the notes but it took me so long to find the answer for one question and some of it are not even in the notes. Arr..open book exams are horrible and I'm going to have 3 open book exams this semester. Good Luck:D

Lunar New Year

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!
"New Year begins, let us pray, that it will be a year with new Peace, New Happiness, and abundance of new friends. God bless you throughout the new Year."

Went home on Sunday morning. My uncle came over to PGP to fetch me at about 9am. We did not really have much difficulty clearing the checkpoint though there was a queue. Manage to pass both checkpoints by 10am. Woohoo..the rest of the journey was either sleeping or eating.

My mummy cooked for our reunion dinner that night. We had steam chicken, prawn, pig trotters, vegetables, and soup. And I got my first angpau from Grandpa too..hehe..nice and special rite:P

We have lion dance at home almost every year. So cute also hor..haha..I manage to pet the lion when it was standing right in front of me. Scare me for a moment. Stand in front of me so long. Almost like going to eat me. Haha..I know it was trying to scare little Ryan and not me. Blek..I'm not scared anyway :P

And lots and lots of angpau for myself. Some of the more special angpau packets.Pooh bear and pooh angpau packets..so cute!!!!

What a Wonderful Day

I'm so proud of myself today. I manage to do so much in just one day. Hehe..ok la..maybe not a lot but I think I still spend my time well.

I did my mini spring-cleaning of my room. Swept and mop the whole room. Wipe the cupboards and table. Hehe..change my bedsheet. Do laundry. Iron clothes. Yeap..I haven't got my ironing board yet so I have to iron on my bed. Arr..if I go on ironing it's going to be super flat by the end of the semester. But my room is super clean and nice now except for my table which is in a big mess. I was doing my work then the wind blew and the papers flew.

I also bought my new year clothes today. Then pack my things to go back to KL tomorrow morning. Finish my statistic tutorial with a few blanks here and there but I considered it 90% done. Those that I left blank are those that I don't know how to do. Hehe..then did a bit of my lab report. Had a hard time trying to fit everything into 2 pages with double spacing and 1 inch margin. There are 4 experiments to cover. So can roughly gauge how much I can write and how much I need to write. Haha..it's still not done but don't care already. Continue when I come back.

I still have my Business Law tutorial and Financial Accounting tutorials to complete. Stress stress. How come so many tutorials to do at the same time. I need to complete at least one tutorial when I'm back in KL so i think it should be Biz Law since the questions are posted online.

I watched 2 movies today. Mamma Mia and Space Chimp. Haa..I'm just too bored in hostel. Most of my clustermates went home. So just a few of us left. I think less than 5. And the fire alarm just can't stop ringing. Haa..i think it's spoilt again. I still recall the first time when it rang, all of us made our way down. That was a mini fire if I'm not wrong. But now, I hardly see people bother. I think they should really do something about it. Cannot always give false alarm.

There's coverage request for NUSSU Bash tonight at Zouk. I just found out where that is and I realise it's not easily accessible. Next time must claim transport allowance. Hehe..I just remembered that they mentioned we are allowed to claim if the event is after 11pm. But today's should end around 10.30pm. So nothing for us.

CaptureNUS a videography competition organised by NUSSU VPC and supported by OSA is currently on. I wonder if I can take part. Hehe..the prize money's very attractive. $2500 for the 1st prize. Hmm..I'm not aiming for the 1st prize, consolation also I happy already:P cannot be greedy. Even if I can't join, I'm still proud of my club for organising this competition. I know everyone put in a lot of effort in it. I can't wait for the publicity video to be out:P

Take care everyone. Happy Holidays and Happy Chinese New Year!

And HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY JUNE!!!! I miss you. Hope I'll get to meet up with you during these few days.

You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes. - Winnie the Pooh

1st Test for the Semester

Haa..Yeap, the semester started just 2 weeks and we had our first CA already. It's Microbiology. I had no idea what to answer for the paper. Totally blur. Nothing came to me. I have no idea how to spell the bacteria names. So in the end I think it was more of a mix and match exercise. I just write whatever I know and combine the names together. Hopefully I can get some marks out of it. Hehe..who knows that bacteria really exist rite:P Alright I think I did badly for that paper. So have to study harder to score for the other tests.

Had my first lecture at business today and I have a new friend..Hui Hui..She's so sweet and nice. Next time I don't need to go lecture alone or rather sit alone in lecture. Hehe..and I realise Qin Jin is also in the same lecture as me. Yay..more and more people that I know. I think lesson will be more fun with friends. Oh they were having some photoshoot in our lecture theatre so we were asked to fill up one part of the LT. Quite funny seeing how they want most of us to move to the empty portion of the LT and they have models too. Ha-ha..the lecturer didn't know about it so when the photoshoot was done and she said we can go back to anywhere we want to sit, she thought she scared those students away that they want to run home..Hehe..so funny:P

Today's also the last practical session with Anthony our Microbiology TA. He did quite a lot of dictation today which I can hardly write anything down. But nevermind, I don't think it's very important :D

Had dinner at Ghim Moh Food Centre. That's my first time going there although it's very near to NUS. We had chicken rice, the chicken's nice, very soft but I think the rice's a bit hard. Hehe..the one near grandpa's house taste nicer :P

Oh I also manage to catch up with Jin Yew after super super long. Haha..finally met him online today. Glad to know he's doing well. Wish him all the best. He's currently studying in KL. So might have chance to meet up when I'm back.

Tutorial Balloting

I can't get all the tutorial slot I wanted..not even 1 of it is my 1st choice so now my time table is horrible with tutorials flying here and there..going to school for a one hour tutorial then break 2 hours then back again for tutorials!!! Arr that's bad. And my tutorials are every week. At least if it's alternating week would be better. Haih..I can't complain. Hope I can get a slot for ACC1002x tmr. I'm just very unlucky with this CORS balloting.

Tuition Again!

Yes! I started to give tuition again but this time is not as far as in Pasir Ris, it's just at Taman Jurong. Hmm..quite hard to describe how to go there but I manage to find my way! Haha..yippee I didn't get lost..great achievement for myself *clap clap clap*

After my tuition, I decided to go VivoCity to get some groceries (stock up more food in my room) and have my lunch :P They were filming some show there and make it quite hard to walk since have to avoid the camera.

Came back to PGP to nap awhile then go out to uncle's house. Had dinner together with them. Uncle brought us to Tanglin Village - Dempsey Cluster, Long Beach Seafood. We had crab, prawn, mushroom, chicken, bean curd and fried baby squid! Haha..the baby squid taste like ikan bilis.

Went to Orchard to shop after dinner. Aunty bought me a shirt too. Yay!

PR Application

Yay! I finally submitted my PR Application form today. So now just have to wait for the reply which takes about 3-6 months.

Reached ICA at 9.30am then queue up to take photographs. Not bad quite fast, by 9.50am I was already done so went up to level 5 to get my queue number. My appointment was supposed to be 10.15am. Meaning I was early and have to sit there to wait.
My queue number was A059. And guess who is my serving officer? Haha..it's Zhi Zhan. I would have never thought of meeting him there. Counter 17!! So surprising. So coincidental. He checked through all my documents and asked me where is my Uni result slip. Arr!!! I forgotten to print it out. And I forgotten to photocopy also. Haih...but luckily he gave me a slip of paper so the next time I go back I dont have to wait for the queue.

Made my way back to NUS to print the result slip and photocopy the student pass. I think I spend more time on travelling than at ICA. Haha..Reached back ICA at 12pm. Went to collect another queue ticket then look for Zhi Zhan. Hehe..cut queue a bit..lazy wait..Haa he didn't tell me I don't need to go get another ticket lor. Haih..but anyway the standard procedure is to get another queue ticket so nevermind.

Met Alex for lunch at Orchard. He wanted to go buy board games. Haha..but the place there sell quite expensive.
Ticket to ride which we played in NUS cost almost $100!!!!

If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. i'll always be with you.

BSS Bazaar

This is the earliest I ever go to school since I entered university. Reach FOS at 8am. Why? Haha..I'm on duty for the Biological Sciences Society Bazaar. My duty slot is from 8am till 10am. But since the stores are mostly not opened at 8am all I need to do is just sit there and take care of the things while reading my notes. So was sitting there with Way Inn and Fish. They really taught me a lot of things like how to handle stores and how to make sure everything in the bazaar are going on smoothly.

10am. Time for statistic lecture. Hehe..I like this lecturer. She's very lively and enthusiastic. So the lesson is not that boring. After all, I really need to pay special attention to stats. My stats are horrible. Have to work hard and score well.

12pm. Lunch time. Had lunch with Benjamin, Bryan, Gerard, Mun Lok, and Eelin. After lunch, I went back to PGP to rest. And I was almost late for the Physics lecture at 2pm. Luckily Benjamin called me. Haha..I fell asleep!! Arr..luckily the lecture wasn't very important. Just an introductory lecture. I can hardly hear what the lecturer said. The LT is just too noisy or he's not speaking to the microphone.

After the lecture, I went over to YIH to pass Hasan the YOG Logo Launch DVDs. Then came back to Science to help out at the bazaar. This time I was selling things. Haha..not bad yea? And I was doing it with Michelle. Fun Fun Fun.

6.30pm. Meet for dinner at Engineering canteen. Haha..we really plan to travel to all faculty for food!. Went to Arts on Monday, Biz on Tuesday, Science for lunch and now Engineering!

Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games logo launch

The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games logo was officially launched by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports.

Spirit of Youth – the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games logo – celebrates Singapore 2010 in an adventurous, open and fun way. It evokes the Singaporean sense of confidence and progress. A red flame represents the passion to learn and the power of positive thinking. A purple star symbolises excellence and the pride of representing one’s nation. A crescent reflects dynamic youth, full of promise. The active appearance of the “Singapore 2010” word mark comprises individual and unique characters that signify harmony among the diverse participants. The Spirit of Youth inspires all of us to express the Olympic spirit and celebrate the first-ever Youth Olympic Games.

The day-long event was packed with fun-filled activities ranging from the CAN!Run, a non-competitive 2010 metres run in the heart of the city to celebrate Singapore 2010; CAN! Play, a carnival featuring sports try-outs for wrestling, handball, modern pentathlon and a 3-on-3 basketball competition; as well as CAN! Party, a concert featuring youth talents and local artistes. Adding to the anticipation and excitement of the day was a launch mechanism,
measuring 7.6 metres by 2.5 metres and with a depth of two metres, specially devised to launch the logo. A combination of mechanism, featuring all the Youth Olympic Games sports, was triggered by mechanical means and saw 26 nimble and rapid transitions under one minute and 50 seconds. A timer then lit up and led the crowd to count down to the unveiling of the logo.

http://www.singapore2010.sg

Yeap! I attended the SYOG Logo Lauch as videographer for NUS. Left PGP together with Sun Ye and Guo Qi and we reached SMU Campus Green at 3pm. Waited for the GOH arrival and the official logo launch. Haha..I manage to get a quite nice spot. Can see what was happening and record them. There were a lot of reporters there too. So have to really try and make my way to the front of the crowd to get a nice view for the video. Hehe..Guo Qi helped me to get to the front - helped me to hold the tripod so easier for me to squeeze to the front.

After the logo launch was the CAN! Run. So I was stationed at the starting point to take the video of flagging off. Haha..not bad I didn't missed it too but don't know if it will be clear coz have to avoid the people running.

Nothing much happened after that. Just visited some of the booths around. Then went over to National Museum of Singapore to look around. Went back to SMU to record the concert at night. Finish everything around 9pm. Packed up and had dinner.

TPJC

I still miss my college so we went to visit TPJC on Friday. Eugene told me that the teachers will be having meeting and might not be able to meet us but Bryan insisted that Ms Sha is free so we reach TPJC at 10am and they are still in the meeting.

Oh and I saw my name on the wall..haha..but didn't manage to take any picture le..haih wasted...Waited at the study cafe until the teacher's meeting ended. Hehe..and I manage to get into the staff room to talk to the teachers :P so happy to see them again.

Went for lunch with Miss Yap, Miss Tan and a few other teachers. Then walk over to Sunplaza Garden there to have a hair cut. A bit more expensive than Bedok, but still very cheap..$3.80 only. Waited quite long there though, a lot of people and finally the hairstylist see me wait so long decided to cut for me while helping another customer to colour her hair. And he told me next time can just call and say looking for Alex before coming so no need wait so so long.

East Coast Park

Went to East Coast Park today. Had lunch at Bedok with Kelvin. Char Siew Rice. Not bad, got extra gravy some more. Haha...and the greatest adventure for me was to walk from one end of East Coast Park to the other end, just to board the bus!! Wow..it had been so long since I exercise, maybe this long walk is good for me.

Came back to PGP for dinner and tidy up my room a bit. Swept the floor and mop it too. All ready for the new semester! Yippee!

Back to Singapore

After a month of holiday, it's time to for me to come back to Singapore and get ready for a new semester. Left my house at 7am, daddy fetched me to the bus stop and mummy waited for me to board the bus.

5 hour journey....had breakfast on the bus, sleep, watch movie which I have no idea what the title is but it's quite scary..the husband wanted to kill the wife and a few years later she came back for revenge. Not too sure about the story line..fell asleep somewhere in the middle and woke up just to see the husband being killed..arrr...scary!!!

Reached Harbour Front Centre at 1pm. Came back to PGP, check-in and started to shift all the things back from Qin Jin's room to mine. Wow..there's really lots and lots of things. I wonder where I'm going to keep them after this sem ends.

Didn't manage to finish tidying up my room. Very tired. Went to the food centre opposite West Coast Plaza for dinner. Had fishball noodles :P

A Year in Review

Goodbye 2008! Welcome 2009!

2008 had been an exciting year, full of ups and downs. What have I been doing? I learnt a lot during this one year. Seen many things I have not seen before, understand many things which I have not known before and appreciate things I didn't think of before.

Started the year with Teaching Internship programme organised by the Ministry of Education Singapore. I'm really thankful for the chance to learn and share. It had really been an enriching experience. I did the first month of internship at Ngee Ann Secondary School. Taught many things and learn equally many if not more. Mr Lee Chin Teck had been a great mentor. Guiding us throughout the whole internship. Not forgetting Ms Ow, Mr Chris Lai, Ms Kum, Mr Joseph and all teachers for their support. I really enjoyed myself there. The friends I made, Khadijah and Yi Qing my staff lounge buddy, Kelvin, Zheng Hong and Emmanuel - though we only talk to you all on our last day, it's nice knowing you all and still keeping in touch till now.

Went on to continue my internship at Tampines Junior College, my alma mater. Ms Khoo had been very supportive of me being able to go back to TPJC and teach. I'm so glad to be able to do that. Mrs Ting is also very helpful in every way, ensuring that we are having a great time there. I got to know more about my teachers and other teachers which I have yet to meet during my studies there. All of them are really helpful. Ms Joanna Loh had really taught me a lot. I've learnt to be more patience when dealing with students and to treat them as our friends. I've realise many things in life, the problems the students might face, how to handle them. I have not known all this before I started teaching. I've certainly grown to be more understanding and supportive of my students. I really miss all of you. Made many new friends too, the other intern - Shawn, Petrina and Benjamin as well as the relief teachers - Amanda, Cheryl, Joyce, Shawn (haha..there's 2 of them), Fatimah and all the other teachers which I can now call them my friends:P

A-Level results was released soon after. When I was still teaching in TPJC, so there's a lot of my students asking me how I did. Luckily it was not that bad. Manage to encourage and prove that TPJCians can do well too. Some were convinced and determined to work hard. So touched to hear them saying 'I will do well', I hope they will.

Sports day! We ran for as the teachers team for Heron (I was from Hawk =S).We participated in both the staff relay as well as the games. We manage to clinch 3rd position for both! Yay! So cool. But it was quite unlucky that Petrina fell and hurt herself.

My student pass expires on the 30th April 2008 so I had to go and apply for Work Permit. Was quite a hassle and a lot of things to settle. Thankfully the Ms Khoo, Ms Joanna and Mrs Ting were very helpful, helping me to take over some of my lessons when I have to go and settle my application.

Attended the College Day 2008. I was really happy, really thankful to everyone and indeed I had a great time. Don't really bother much of the awards given but rather the chance to meet up with all my friends. Everyone shared their working experience, what we were doing for the past few months.

I then continued teaching as a relief teacher after the mid-year hols. Some of my students did well and some scored below expectation. Work Harder yea! You can do it! Being a relief teacher was as exciting as being an intern. Though I don't have Ms Loh to guide me, Ms Khoo's still by my side helping me in every way possible. And the students were much nicer too. I really miss all of you!!!

Then came our Pulau Ubin trip. Ha-ha..fun and fulfilling trip. Went cycling (not me cycling..Ha-ha I really can't do it), karaoke, and relax at the chalet. Great experience..that's my first time there also. Oh and you really can't imagine the teachers actually playing at the playground. Ha-ha..super funny the way we try to design new games for us. Looking forward for another trip soon.

Uni started in August. I went for the orientation as well and met many friends there. I'm glad I actually went for it. I enjoyed all our hang-out sessions after school whether it's just chit chatting or having meals together. It was indeed an enjoyable moment. I enjoyed both my main CCAs too - VPC and IGC. Happy!

Time really flies when we are enjoying, by then it's the end of the year and our finals are around the corner. Everyone is busy preparing for the exams hoping to score well.

Sum up the year with Sunburst Youth Camp which lasted for one week. Nothing can compare to how I enjoyed the camp.Though we only spent a week together, the friendship fostered is unmeasurable. Enjoying every moment, sleepless nights, joking in the room, dancing, stress to meet the deadlines. Ha-ha..it's all worth seeing how successful it was. Thanks everyone!

Lots of outing and gathering in between the year. I enjoyed all of them and look forward for more this year. Thank you everyone for adding colours to my life, teaching me many valuable lessons, lending a helping hand when I need one and of course being with me throughout the year. Hope that we will all have a better 2009!! See ya all.

**I know there are things happened and we wish that they did not. Many things are beyond our control so we just have to stay strong and overcome all the challenges that come by.
Stay strong my friend. We're here to support you.
