"Leisure"

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad day light,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Success

Success arises our of steady accumulation of advantages: when and where you are born, what your parents did for a living, and what the circumstances of your upbringing were all make a significant difference in how well you do in the world.

Legacy

Cultural legacies are powerful forces. They have deep roots and long lives. They persist, generation after generation, virtually intact, even as the economic and social and demographic conditions that spawned them have vanished, and they play such a role in directing attitudes and behaviour that we cannot make sense of our world without them.

Fond Memories

Education is not the piling on of learning, information, data, facts, skills, or abilities - that's training or instruction - but is rather making visible what is hidden as a seed

Donald Rumsfeld

"There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know"

How uncertain:S

Finance Last Lecture

This last lecture is one of the toughest I ever had so far. It was about Options. I wish I had the option not to study this chapter :)

"Derivatives are financial weapons of mass destruction, carrying dangers that, while now latent, are potentially lethal"

I don't really understand what was going on during the lecture. So confusing. Put options, call options, buy, sell...arrgh...anyway, Dr Er gave us lots of chocolates today for helping him to complete the survey on MyFinanceLab. I've only used it for 1 or 2 times, so couldn't really give a good representation of the effectiveness of that programme.

Next week will be our final CA, I will also be having Biochemistry CA which makes up 60% of the final score next week, one day before finance. SO Wednesday will be Biochemisty, Thursday will be Finance, Friday will be Understanding Statistics and the following Monday will be MiniProject deadline. Waa...so much to complete in so little time. I think I better play less and study more!!

Exhausted.

Tears falling down my cheek,
What's happening to me?
I used to be so strong,
But lately I feel so weak.
All the stress brings me down,
It gives me no choice,
I can't speak my mind,
I just can't find my voice.
The smile I used to have,
It's hid behind,
The other part of me,
The person I pretend to be,
So you don't see my tears,
I fight all my fears,
I can't show emotion,
So I store it all inside,
But it builds up,
I breakdown,
I need to put the stress off to the side,
So that I will feel better inside.

"I start to feel like I can't maintain the facade any longer, which I may just start to show through. And I wish I knew what was wrong. Maybe something about how stupid my whole life is. Why does the rest of the world put up with the hypocrisy, the need to put a happy face on sorrow, the need to keep on keeping on...? I don't know the answer; I know only that I can't. I don't want anymore vicissitudes, I don't want anymore of this try, try again stuff. I just want out. I've had it. I am so tired. I am already exhausted."

Life

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending

Scared. Disappointed. Speechless.
